This post is inspired by a conversation I had with two friends in Lilongwe while visiting friends and family.

One friend was pondering on what he was to do after retiring from the central bank. He being in the fiwld of ICT I told him opening shop and trying to offer services in the capital will be naive. He should try to invest in the Mzuzu by opening a 1-STOP-IT-SHOP. I told him to get over the old school mentality that the North was economically irrelevant in terms of returns. The fact is that Blantyre and Lilongwe are sarturated although the latter is going through an economic boom. Construction is taking place at a good speed.

To my other buddy I told him of the scarcity of office space in the Mzuzu it would be a prime area since most offices are seekin shelter in the residential areas. So buying land now would be a good investment in the future since people tend to build for residential houses rather than office blocks.

So Mzuzu is the place to be at the moment when thinking of Long and medium investments. The potential is being realised and growth is evident. If you read this post you can see that these are not empty thoughts.
